This month the Winter Solstice will occur, and people of many beliefs all over will celebrate Yule, the Winter Solstice holiday. The Winter Solstice happens on the shortest day of the year, and focuses on the cosmic strength of the season. As with all holidays, Yule has some specific rituals. Yule is a time of renewal when spells let go of the old and welcome the new. As with most rituals, the focus of Yule is on connecting to nature. In this case, the connection helps with the renewal.
According to Wicca Spirit, one of the Wiccan spells for Yule is the Peace for Family Spell, which is supposed to restore peace for the family whether immediate, extended, friends, or co-workers. The spell caster would focus the ritual on the family in which they wanted to restore peace.
Wicca Spirit also posted a Goddess Ritual for Yule. It seems that the spells and rituals for this season are abundant and varied and quite lovely. This website had many Wiccan spells and pagan rituals particularly for Yule.
In addition to the Wicca Spirit spells and rituals, Wicca.com explained the Winter Solstice Ritual as another of the Wiccan spells performed during Yule. This required far more to complete, but still focused on renewal, peace, and meditation.
A third popular website for Yule is A Druid Fellowship. It has information about Winter Solstice, a solitary Yule, and information about the pagan rituals.
I found a surfeit of other sites, but these three seemed the best. As I have advised before, anyone interested in celebrating Yule and the Winter Solstice should find a modern witch, either solitary or a coven, and learn the Wiccan spells and pagan rituals from the believers.
It is no coincidence that Yule and Christmas and New Year’s fall so closely together. These holidays all celebrate renewal in their own way. I would imagine that the modern Wiccan cannot help but see the connection between these holidays. We all have our rituals. This year, don’t forget about the Winter Solstice in your holiday season celebrations.
