Don't Forget Those In Need :)

Nov 18, 2016

All over the world there are those who are less fortunate than us. For whatever reason they don't have the ability to buy the fancy foods we think of as a Thanksgiving feast.

Think of how you can help during this holiday season. Many supermarkets offer some form ofa free turkey if you purchase a certain amount of groceries within a specified time. If you can afford to purchase your own turkey, think of giving that turkey to a food bank or church collecting for the disadvantaged.

Think of Thanksgiving as a day of service and volunteer at a local food kitchen feeding the needy. Your extra hands will be appreciated on the serving line as well as afterward during the cleanup.

Many towns or charitable institutions make up "food baskets" that contain the fixings for a Thanksgiving dinner. Volunteer to help distribute those to the needy families on the list. You'll be amazed at the warm gratitude shown to you.

If you can't find the time to do these things, then take a few dollars and contribute them to one of the agencies in your town that will be doing something for the people who can't afford it. Even a small amount, when added to other's contributions, can bring joy to one, two, three, five or more people.

This Thanksgiving, look at the word as two separate entities... "Thanks" and "GIVING."
