Here, there's the Queen of Pentacles sitting on her throne. She holds a pentacle, the symbol of her position and realm, in her hands.
Her throne is in the middle of a field under a tree. It has cherubs and rams on it. She is with what she loves most-Mother Nature.
She gazes at it as if it holds all the answers. And it does.
This pentacle isn't magical per se. There's nothing special about it.
Except for one thing. It was first pentacle she ever made on her own as a young princess of 10.
She worked in a minting business back then, it was her father's, and her job was to distribute pentacles. Not just to anyone, but to the less fortunate in particular.
Her father was a forward-thinking kind of guy. He knew that money didn't buy happiness. But it did fix financial problems which cause unhappiness and misery.
He often told her the story of the Great Recession. When her grandfather, her father's father, was a young boy, no one had any pentacles to spare. Not the king, not the king in the next realm, not landed gentry, everyone was poor and broke.
It took a long time, but eventually they had money again. They dug themselves out of financial ruin.
The first thing her grandfather did was to proclaim: "None must feel as we have felt ever again! All will have an income to equal their expenses for that year." And so it was, everyone had pentacles and everyone had a job to make more pentacles for extra, fun things.
The Queen of Pentacles saved her pentacle to remind herself of when her kingdom had nothing. It's a feeling that tears at her nurturing heart.
She put her throne under a tree to remind herself every day that the animal kingdom has no pentacles. They manage to make do.
This tale isn't real. But it's based on reality. And some countries already have a basic income. Some countries already have free healthcare too.
There were a lot of songs I could have chosen for the Queen of Pentacles. I chose Leila (Queen of Sheba) was: "She made one command: the rich should help the poor. In return for that, you'll get something back which pleases you much more."
Many Tarot readers will tell you the Queen of Pentacles means having everything. And while they're right, having everything doesn't help you to unpack the you at your core.
The most basic version of yourself. Today, go back to the basics.
Who are you at your core? What defines you?
Is it, like the Queen of Pentacles, helping others? If so, what sort of help can you provide? Pentacles, time, sweat or a combination of all three perhaps?
Or is it grounding and being a rock for others? Sometimes in the midst of turmoil, a clear and level head is the most precious pentacle there is!
Do you have a calming effect on others? If so, are you able to soothe and make a rock-solid plan of action at the same time? My hat's off to you!
Whoever you are at your core, be that. Be only that!
Return to your nurturing roots, too. Don't have green thumb? Nurture in other ways.
Be a kick ass business mentor. Be a fierce mommy boss! Be a pentacle-savvy budgeting queen!
