The holidays are coming and it's time to party.  Keep your guests happy with a buffet table stocked with simple foods and beverages.  These recipes from shoprite.com are sure to please.
 
This popular taco crescent ring is perfect for a holiday crowd! Taco-seasoned beef is baked inside buttery crescent dough with melty cheese and served with your favorite Tex-Mex toppings for a flavor that can’t be beat. Make two or more depending on the size of your crowd.
 
Taco Crescent Ring
 
Ingredients
 
1 lb ground beef
1 package (1 oz) taco seasoning mix
1/2 cup water
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (4 oz)
2 cans (8 oz each) refrigerated crescent dinner rolls
 
Directions
 
  1. Heat oven to 375°F.
  2. In 10-inch nonstick skillet, cook beef until no longer pink.
  3. Add taco seasoning mix and 1/2 cup water. Simmer 3 to 4 minutes or until slightly thickened.
  4. In medium bowl, mix beef mixture and cheese.
  5. Unroll both cans of dough; separate into 16 triangles.
  6. On ungreased large cookie sheet, arrange triangles in ring so short sides of triangles form a 5-inch circle in center. Dough will overlap. Dough ring should look like the sun.
  7. Spoon beef mixture on the half of each triangle closest to center of ring.
  8. Bring each dough triangle up over filling, tucking dough under bottom layer of dough to secure it. Repeat around ring until entire filling is enclosed (some filling might show a little).
  9. Bake 20 to 25 minutes or until dough is golden brown and thoroughly baked.
  10. Cool 5 to 10 minutes before cutting into serving slices.
  11. Add shredded lettuce, chopped tomatoes, sliced ripe olives, taco sauce or salsa, as desired.

Calico Pasta Salad
 
Ingredients
 
1 cup dry whole grain penne pasta, uncooked
1 can (10 oz) ficed yomatoes & hreen chilies, undrained
1 can (15 oz) black beans, drained, rinsed
1 cup  frozen sweet corn, cooked and cooled
1/2 cup diced pepper jack cheese
1/2 cup sliced celery
2 green onions, thinly sliced
1/3 cup Italian dressing
1 orange, peeled, sliced
1 avocado, pitted, peeled, sliced
Lettuce leaves, optional
 
Directions
 
1. Prepare pasta according to package directions. Drain and rinse with cold water.
2. Combine pasta, undrained tomatoes, beans, corn, cheese, celery and onions in medium bowl.
3. Add dressing; mix well.
4. Cover and refrigerate at least 1 hour before serving.
5. Serve pasta salad with orange and avocado slices on lettuce leaves alongside.
