Tarot Card of the Day by StarzGnosis - Queen of Cups.

Jun 15, 2016

Keyword: Calm Song: "Queen of My Heart," by Hank Williams, Jr.

Here there's the Queen of Cups on the shoreline of the beach sitting on her throne. The throne has a seashell where a headrest would be.

She holds before her, a chalice with a lid contemplating it. She faces West.

There were a lot of songs about queens I could have used for this Tarot card. "Queen of Hearts" by Juice Newton springs to mind.

But, I don't like that song. Why? Mainly the line, "Playing with the Queen of Hearts. Knowing it ain't really smart. The joker ain't the only fool who'll do anything for you."

As a woman that's discounted, I can't shake the feeling that "Queen of Hearts" isn't a positive song for us. Why cut other women down? What purpose does that serve?

None that's good as far as I can see. So I didn't go with that one.

I opted instead for Hank Williams, Jr.'s pining-away ballad, "Queen of My Heart". Because, "If you get this letter, please let me know somethin'. If you're comin' back or is it all through?

"Hey, just tell me yes or no, don't keep me hangin.' 'Cause that's the part I could never get used to."

Those lines are more empowering toward women. And while it's not the happy feel-good song I expected it to be, it's tons better than "Queen of Hearts".

The tear-jerker lines are, "And the Queen's still in England, the King's still in Spain. My love for you is still the same.

"You know that I want you till death do us part. You know that you are the queen of my heart."

You have to hand it to Hank, he respects the queen of his heart. All he wants is a simple "yes" or "no".

That's all well and good, but what does this have to do with Tarot's own Queen of Cups? The Queen of Cups is the mistress of her feelings. She knows how to feel them without being ruled by her feelings.

The "Queen of My Heart" Queen of Cups knows intimately how she feels. At any given time, she is able to sift through her emotions to get to the emotion she wants.

This ability to "surf" emotions serves her well. She doesn't always need to contemplate them deeply.

In fact, the Queen of Cups must be doing some heavy and complex emotional work right now. Because she's engrossed in the chalice.

It consumes all her attention. She's working on some pretty big stuff.

Maybe it's stretching her emotional reserves out so she's not as tired or drained. Or perhaps the Queen of Cups is working out how to be an emotionally present leader to all her subjects. Whatever it is, she's up to the task before her!

And you can learn a bit from her, too. Today, think about this: "Although we presume that we act because of the way we feel. In fact, we often feel because of the way we act." - Gretchen Rubin

What does this mean? It's simple.

You can act the way you want to feel. If you want to feel loved, act lovingly.

What if you feel sad or irritated? You can act happy or friendly to counterbalance those feelings if you want. You're worth more than wallowing in irritation or sadness.

"When I’m feeling an unpleasant feeling, I counteract it. By behaving the way I wish I felt."- Gretchen Rubin

But, you should not dismiss how you feel either. Find the balance.

Take a cue from the Queen of Cups and examine your own Chalice of Feelings. What will you find there? What lies in the emotional depths within?

Perhaps it's the answer to your emotional needs. Or perhaps it's the key to locking your inner child.

As you gaze within it, consider: How often have you acted the way you felt? What happened?

How could it have gone differently or better? How could you have acted to make it better?

What lessons about feelings do you wish you had known sooner? What lessons about emotions can you share with your children or grandchildren?

At the end of the day, The Queen of Cups is aces at listening to her intuitive self.

How often do you listen to yours'? What can you learn from your psychic self if you start today?

You're definitely intuitive or else you wouldn't be reading this! It's not hard to start listening to your inner wisdom.

Just sit quietly and ask: "What do I need to know right now?" Or, "What do I need to know about (blank)?"

Keep your questions focused on What? or How? Avoid asking, "How does X feel?" or "How will X react to (blank)?"

Keep the focus on you and yourself to get the best intuitive advice. Why?

Because when you ask about other people: a) you take away that person's free will or agency. And b) you prejudice yourself for or against that person.

Imagine: You asked about how Sheila feels for you and you got The Devil and Death. You interpret that as: "She's obsessed (Devil). And won't stop chasing me until either her death or my death (Death)."

The next time you see Sheila, you avoid her and use one-word answers. This affects things negatively and ruins your rapport with her forever.

That example is extreme for a reason. It's a cautionary tale.

Instead: Ask, "What can I learn from Shelia?" Again, you get The Devil and Death cards.

You interpret this as: "She's having a hard time letting go (Devil). But she will eventually find a way to do so safely and in a way that is healthy (Death)."

See the difference there? Allow others to have their free will.

Your intuitive self will thank you for it! So will the people you're askin about. Everyone wins!

You're already miles above every other intuitive out there. Just by following this simple guide, you;re making a huge difference!

I believe in you! Believe in yourself!

StarzGnosis (KNOW-sis) would probably be the Page of Swords. She loves learning and expanding her mind. Or maybe she's the Knight of Cups, missing a subtle cue here and there. You'd have to ask her spouse (Who also reads Tarot!) to know for sure. She loves love and her favorite 90's show was Charmed.
