5 Great Alternative Uses For Aspirin .

Jul 7, 2017

When you have a headache, according to aol.com, chances are you go to your medicine cabinet and look for a pain reliever. For some people, this means acetaminophen, or for others, ibuprofen or aspirin.

But just how often do you go to the medicine cabinet to grab one of these pills when you have another problem that needs solving inside your house? Probably not very. After all, what else could something like aspirin do other than cure a headache?

The answer might just surprise you! It turns out that the jar of aspirin you have sitting in your medicine cabinet actually has many other uses besides the one it was made for. Check out these five awesome aspirin hacks!

Aspirin is one of those medications that almost everyone has taken at one time or another. It is usually given as an over-the-counter analgesic (pain killer) to treat minor aches and pains. Sometimes it is taken by people who have suffered heart attacks. But there are so many other things your aspirin can do…

1. It can help you fight dandruff! The salicylic acid in aspirin is a strong moisturizing agent  and more moisture means less of the white stuff. Just crush 2-3 pills into a powder and mix them with your shampoo. When applying, let the mixture sit on your head for a few minutes, then rinse out as normal.

2. It can also treat acne break outs and leave you with clear skin! Salicylic acid removes dead skin and oils. It also reduces redness and swelling. Make a paste of around five crushed aspirin tablets with a quarter cup of water and a teaspoon of honey (for added shine.) Apply it and leave it on for 10 minutes before washing off and moisturizing as usual.

3. Is there anything worse than trying to get a sweat stain out of a nice shirt or blouse? Luckily, aspirin can help here too! Just make the skin paste described above (minus the honey, of course,) and, instead of putting it on your face, put it on the stain and wash as usual. You’ll be impressed with how it turns out.

4. Here’s one of the craziest things aspirin can do. Let’s say you go start your car only to find that the battery has died. You can jumpstart it with aspirin! Just put a couple of aspirin tablets into your battery. The salicylic acid reacts with the sulfuric acid in the battery to create just enough charge to get you to auto body shop!

5. That’s right, salicylic acid saves the day again! The same stuff that’s so good for your skin is also good at keeping your fresh bouquet of roses fresh for a little bit longer by keeping mold and decomposition at bay. Crush up a tablet and put it right in the water of your vase. Enjoy!

Who had any idea that this medicine cabinet staple could be put to so many different uses? Now that you see everything it can do, it’s time to try out some of these stellar tips.
