"The power of spirituality, the empowered soul"
Part 4
We now take a closer look at the actions that empower and how our thought process leads to the action, which is then reabsorbed.
So it becomes a circle of power which never runs dry or using the "lighthouse" analogy the light never burns out. When we are yet to be empowered we could say our light may be dim, becoming brighter as we empower our self. The light however is always burning and there is no end to the energy we can tap into and no limit to what we can tap into or engage in actions.
The following is the definition by the online Merriam-Webster dictionary;
to promote the self-actualization or influence of
Empower/empowered can also be defined as an authority given in legal terms. However in spirituality or in our lives' as humans and spiritual beings it is our own authority we are giving "power" to. It is also extremely important and significant to understand the actions, intentions and outcomes possible with self-actualization or the influence of that power to move forward. In the online definition it refers to using this influence or the use of such power as propelling for example a believe or a movement. So although we can empower for the collective by working with various charity organizations, the women's or minority movements, etc., we always begin with self.
We must reach empowerment or be empowered before we can make a difference in the life of others, even family or friends.
So in attempting to be more specific regarding how a human or person actually gains this state of being we look at a few examples.
And keep in mind that empowered or empowerment is a strong and consistent state of being that is almost always retained once achieved. It is actually much more difficult to "lose power" than it is to become that power. Taking one last look at the analogy of the lighthouse, for ships out at sea it is perhaps challenging in some conditions to see the beacon of light but once spotted it almost never waivers from view. And that is the theory or relevant point behind being empowered. Once we have accomplished that it becomes an unnatural state of being or energy to be without or to attempt to discard such power.
For humans we must feel that we have the control over our life and the path we choose to take. It also means that we need to exert some control over how we allow other people and situations to affect and/or define us. We cannot always control external factors; we cannot stop a tornado from destruction and we cannot control another human forcing love or expecting love to fix or change someone else. We can however become empowered by the actions we take and how we internalize our emotions and the positive and negative events we witness in life.
One that is empowered is able to accept what cannot be changed and able and willing to change that which is within self. This becomes empowering, each and every time we control the outcome of our actions or response to stimuli. It is also a state of grace, but rather than a passive state empowerment carries a stronger energy that enables us to move forward under all circumstance. In part 3 we mentioned setting good boundaries and being true to self, both actions to empower and of empowerment. So again the more positive and strong action we take even if such action is choosing not to respond in a specific manner or to a specific action. We can even use that totally within self. We all have the same or equal opportunity to choose how we are going to react to others, to situations those within and beyond our control equally.
So there are times when walking away from a fight or argument actually is empowering and is of that empowerment rather than choosing to fight. It is not always about what may be just and fair, but instead it places us in the energy of always being able or attempting to choose what serves OUR greatest good regardless of the finer details or points.
When we view empowered as a choice to take an emotion, relationship or situation and react in a manner that is chosen for our current self and future, we are strengthening our power.
And really empower and the power of our spirit/soul is the energy and state of being, but also significantly impacting how we act and react. For those that live in a frame of reference where hope and faith exists, such person must be empowered. The more choices made with empowered energy the greater the power becomes and the easier and more the action is created again or in each new situation. It also then reaches into trust and respect of self. Again while we cannot control the world around us nor other humans, we can always control our own life and the energy we choose to embrace. That energy is the embodiment of empowered. Those empowered maintain a stable self-image and accept their imperfections. So it’s not about being a predator or aggressive action, and it’s not intended to be used to overpower another. That is in fact the opposite of true empowerment. True empowerment is being responsible for self and not allowing anyone or anything to shift that energy in either direction. So there is no need for arrogance or staged confidence. It becomes a natural part of our being and works in harmony with all of our energies.
It also becomes a healing experience; those that begin to empower self often find they are able to heal emotional and spiritual wounds. It is not either as noted to imply we are without or lack emotion or are unable to deeply feel pain, grief or stress. As humans we are born to be loving and compassionate and that energy is always tied to the expression of emotions. Empowered or those that have found their power source are or can be sensitive and emotional, but it is their choosing rather than pure reaction. Being only reactive to our world is not empowering nor is it empowerment.
Actions are all that we do or choose to not do that serve the highest good in any and every situation. It becomes the ability to put self above all others, not with selfishness, but self preservation. For those empowered, they are always more inclined and better able to assist others in need, than those humans that remain without their "power" or empowerment.
It can be challenging to articulate on paper the actions that denote empowering or that empower. The closest energy or state of being that can be described is that of self-reliant. Of balance and harmony that aligns us with our spirit/soul and therefore allows us to exist in a higher state of being/energy. Just as the higher the lighthouse the further out at sea the ships can detect it's spectrum of light; the more we choose to be empowered the more empowered we become. So being self-reliant is in the spiritual sense although it certainly crosses over into our daily or human lives' as well.
If you have found your connection to the power within it is fairly easy to identify by the path that we walk and the faith and hope we carry for our future. Just as those that have not fully connected or absorbed such power can identify the lack of hope or faith and the feeling of uncertainty about self-image and identity. And for those that may question that empowering sounds like only thinking of one's own self or creating a self-induced idol type status, it is the opposite. Empowerment is responsible and accountable, but also controlled and able to preserve self. And there is really no human that can truly give what is healthy and functional to others without first carrying such within.
Next we move into the last of this series with looking at the outcome and the significant differences empowering creates within self and in life.
