"What is the light"?

As always we have our hosts Natalie AKA StarzCast (and the Goddess of light) - Owner, founder and CEO of Starz, Ezine and all affiliates. And myself, Maya AKA StarzMayaMoon. Natalie and I have been co-hosting Starz BlogTalk for well over a year and have become quite in sync with one another, regardless of the chosen night's topic, we both have lots to share that hopefully offers insight, guidance and enrichment of our spiritual being.
Last night was focused on "the light"; and specifically that which we refer to as the spiritual light or that which is hard to define yet profoundly important and always noticed. While there are numerous metaphors and analogies for attempting to decipher or explain the light, Natalie and I both provided some great insights and explanations.
Per Natalie-who for many of us that have the honor of knowing this amazing woman; the "light" is that purity, grace and compassion that drives us to give rather than receive. In spite of an extremely barren childhood, Natalie was born in the light and it shines brightly and unwavering upon all those she meets. Even in her darkest hour, many of which she has graciously shared with our listeners, her light NEVER dulls, fades and certainly would be impossible to extinguish! For
Natalie, being raised in what I would have to classify as a barren environment, it often defies logic that Natalie not only overcame so many things but her entire being, soul, heart and all intentions are that which truly DO define the light and what it can give, change and provide.
Aside from the above, I added that most humans at the very least have a candle (metaphorically) that burns within and is their own light. But there are many that through choice and free will turn that small candle into a huge, glowing light that is spread across the land, from the external to the energy within and the collective. Those that are "of the light" are simply those humans that protect and nurture the intentions of love, and that of giving and sacrificing. I made the analogy that if a millionaire gives 10 dollars to a charity, there is no true sacrifice being made and it becomes more of an ego gesture. However those in the light may have only 50 dollars to their name, yet if faced with one in dire need or a need they interpret greater than their own, give most if not all to that needy person. Now that IS true sacrifice. From those that work in the spiritual profession, to charity organizers, people that spend time and resources helping unwanted pets or assisting at shelters. There are numerous programs, from advocacy for children to "meals on wheels" and these are unpaid, volunteer positions.
So the light is all around. Although we may never be sure, the light was created by that power that is larger than us all. And as we neared the end and were discussing ways in which the light existed and how it came to be, we added this.
Imagine a world of total darkness. Externally imagine no sun, not having lamps, or lanterns or even oil lamps used hundreds of years ago. As you can probably imagine, eventually that loss of light would begin to affect our well-being and limit what we were able to do. We cannot play kickball in the dark, or enjoy a day at the beach. The list of examples is endless really. And the same and more are true with our spiritual light. Keeping that candle burning and perhaps even adding to its brightness by walking in grace, sharing all we have whether that is knowledge, support, time or money.
Being compassionate and placing the greater good of the whole and even sometimes others ahead of our own needs. The "light" is the intention. And the intention of what and who we strive to be certainly defines us as humans.
So, just follow behind Natalie and I can assure you that you too, will be "walking in the light".
