DON'T let anyone make you think that you don't control your own destiny and your own life! You are a strong person with your own thoughts and inklings. Tell them thanks for the advice but no thanks. You are entitled to feel one way or another. Tell them in no uncertain terms you will be doing what it is that makes YOU happy NOT them!
Destiny is a funny thing sometimes. You think you might know which way it wants you to go them boom a different path is totally take then what you thought that it wanted you to go. Destiny will push you in the right direction even if you take the wrong path.
