The Touchy Subject of Shielding by StarzJC.

There are some folks out there who are very empathic, sensitive, open to life's slings and arrows. Most of you know who you are... you "get it" and can sense things coming and finish other people's sentences. But life has become frazzled and some people just get under your skin and really tire you out. 

Empathic people pick up on EVERYthing around them... nervousness, anger, fear, the whole spectrum of human emotions that surround them. And many of you wonder what's wrong, why you feel as if someone went over you with a blow torch. 

Well, folks, if this has happened to you, it's a matter of not knowing how to shield yourself from all those rampant loose energies out there. 

The dictionary defines the verb to shield this way: 
–verb (used with object) 
1. to protect (someone or something) with or as if with a shield. 
2. to serve as a protection for. 
3. to hide or conceal; protect by hiding. 
4. Obsolete. to avert; forbid. 

We can actually build a shield around ourselves and it's really quite easy. What it demands is some concentration and a willingness to practice, practice, practice until it becomes an automatic thing. 

My favorite way of helping someone learn to shield themselves from all that extra energy is to have them visualize a very fine mesh jumpsuit, something like a scuba diving suit, but made from either gossamer gold 
or silver threads. 

"See" it in your mind's eye. Construct it with long sleeves, a hood, a front closure and maybe even feet like the pajamas kids wear. Imagine every detail so that you can then imagine yourself putting it on. 

Take your time... make sure it's smooth and fits well. Imagine yourself gently pulling it up over your body, one foot then the other; an arm and then the other arm; over the shoulders, straighten it then zip it shut. 
Lift up the hood and position it on your head. 

If you work with computers or electronics, you may want to fashion yourself a pair of imaginary gold or silver mesh gloves, too. 

What's all this imagining for? Actually, you're forming an energy shield around yourself, but your imagination feels less silly thinking about putting on an article of clothing, even if it is imaginary. 

At first you may need to put your jump suit on right after you brush your teeth and comb your hair. You may be so empathic, you wonder why you get up in the morning. But this little trick will calm those fears and make life a bit more manageable. 

I remember sharing this idea with some on-line readers who would feel as if they had taken on the burdens of the world after only one or two readings. Because they were so sensitive and open, they were taking on the burdens of the world. After they created their "psychic jumpsuit" they actually were able to do several more readings without that burnout. 

I'm not saying this will work for everyone... but it's worth a try. If the jumpsuit doesn't work for you, then imagine yourself inside a very thin bubble of energy. You pick the color. Surround yourself before going out into the world so that you don't pick up everyone else's energy burps.  

Let me know how this works for you. I don't seem to need to manufacture a shield. Something inside of me just switches on and I'm okay. Oh, don't get me wrong, there have been times I had to add some thought out energy when I was in a heated situation, but I'm lucky enough to be able to work it without the imagery. 
My advice to you:  Go forth and shield!
