Humans have been fascinated by the mysteries of the universe for as long as they have been in existence according to this article from boredomtherapy.com. The outer reaches of the galaxy hold so many unanswered questions that it seems there will never be an end to its exploration, and for good reason.

Every once in a while, scientists discover something unusual that makes us question whether we’re the only form of intelligent life in our vast universe. We haven’t yet been able to uncover solid evidence that extraterrestrial life does exist, but when NASA’s unusual findings are made public, the Internet tends to go wild.

Recently, NASA’s Curiosity rover sent back some very intriguing photos of Mars that have “alien hunters” everywhere jumping for joy. The evidence isn’t concrete, but it does lead to some very interesting speculation…

When NASA discovers something unusual, it’s cause for excitement. The galaxy is full of mysteries, and every new bit of information we uncover about what might be happening in outer space is a chance for our species to learn more about where we’ve come from and where we’re going. Undoubtedly, one of the biggest questions of all remains: is there intelligent life on other planets?

This burning question has been the subject of intense scrutiny—and for some, concern—throughout history. We hope to learn the truth one day, but for now, we have to settle for making sense of some inexplicable phenomena, just like the most recent discovery from NASA…

NASA’s Curiosity rover captured something very strange on the surface of Mars. It has scientists intrigued, and it has “alien hunters” around the world claiming that it’s the work of an intelligent species. What exactly did the rover find?

It was a rock formation in the shape of a perfect circle! It’s unlike any other formation that scientists have ever seen on Mars before. There are plenty of other craters scattered around the surface, but this one is entirely different—and it has people talking.

Alien enthusiasts around the world are claiming that either the rocks were arranged by another form of life, or it’s part of a much larger sculpture that’s buried deep beneath the sandy surface. Whatever it is, it’s raising a lot of questions.

“This could potentially be some sort of ruin. One thing’s for sure, I’ve never seen anything quite like it on Mars. It just looks eerily out of place,” one space enthusiast on YouTube said in a video posted by the channel SecureTeam10.

This recent formation is being compared to an unusual Mars discovery made in 2015 that resembled the rocks of Stonehenge. It became known as “Marshenge,” and scientists theorized that it was most likely a geological phenomenon, but no one knows for sure. This isn’t the only reason people are fascinated by Mars…

Back in April, the Curiosity rover also captured what appeared to be an ancient tree trunk standing alone amid the dust storms. Unfortunately, there was no actual evidence to support the claims, but those in the scientific community speculated just the same.

Ever since the Curiosity rover landed on Mars, it has sent back remarkable pictures that have allowed scientists to better understand the planet’s mountainous terrain. It’s clear the photos sometimes lead to more questions than answers, though.

This is a fascinating photo of Mars’s surface taken by NASA’s Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter. For a reason that is unknown to scientists, there appears to be a pit that formed in the middle of what experts nicknamed the “Swiss cheese terrain.”

The reason behind the nickname is obvious. The ground literally looks like pieces of Swiss cheese with all the holes. Scientists say the depression could be either a collapsed pit or an impact crater, both of which are common on Mars.

Some people joke that the menacing-looking depression looks a lot like the Great Pit of Carkoon, which housed Jabba the Hutt’s carnivorous sarlacc in the Star Wars film Return of the Jedi. Much to the dismay of science fiction fans everywhere, however, there is likely no sarlacc living on Mars.

Scientists are also looking into a scaly formation discovered on the South Polar layered deposits that could possibly be the site of a past impact. According to NASA, these are some of the clearest pictures that have ever been taken of the deposits.

The Curiosity rover will continue to send captivating pictures and data back to the scientists at NASA so they can hopefully continue to learn more about Earth’s red neighbor.

With all the mind-boggling technology that NASA has at its fingertips, there’s no doubt that scientists will be encountering a lot more awesome discoveries that will keep us on our toes.
