Generations have often despaired over the "younger generation" saying they don't have the civility, morals or intelligence of their elders.  It's not evident that being different isn't being bad.

But today is a special landmark for the youngsters out there who have seen what their elders have done - or not done - and are taking history into their own hands.  The Millennials (1982-2004) and Homelanders (2005-Present) the chiildren of GenXers and grand children of the Baby Boomers - seem to see what needs to be done and are no longer looking to their parents or grand parents to do it.

Today marks an event started after the shooting at the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida which took seventeen lives.  Teens and young adults have organized to seek an end to the use of what they consider instruments of death.  In the aftermath of the loss, students formed NeverAgainMSD (the initials standing for their school name) and through social media (#NeverAgain) and in person demanded legislative action to prevent similar tragedies.

No matter your opinion on ownership of weapons, these youngsters deserve the respect and support of all Americans today and into the future.  Politicians have shown them a mixed response but let us as parents, siblings, relatives of kids in these generations show them that we care about life and understand their anger and show them love.

To date, several high profile celebrities have donated to help with the organization of the various marches.  It is heartening to see these famous folks supporting the teens and young adults rather than talking down to them or dismissing their fervor.

We shall see what effect this movement has on legislatures throughout America.  Can they raise awareness that ALL lives matter and that regulating the sale and use of weapons isn't against the Constitution?

This is not a political statement but a celebration of the coming of age of children who faced life "face-first" all too soon...
