Penumbral Eclipse/Full Worm Moon.

Mar 23, 2016

From a variety of articles on the Internet we find, a penumbral eclipse of the Full Moon - when the Moon at 3° Libra 17" is exactly opposite the Sun in Aries - is to occuring today at 12:00 UTC. Its importance is increased by an accompanying penumbral lunar eclipse. This eclipse will be visible from most parts of Asia, Australia, North America, and most parts of South America. The total duration of the eclipse is 4 hours, 15 minutes.

An example of the timing of the eclipse in North America:  On March 23, 2016 in Washington, District of Columbia, America/New_York (UTC -4), an penumbral lunar eclipse will start at 05:39, the maximum eclipse will occur at 07:47 when the Moon reaches an altitude of -7°;this event will come to an end at 09:55 and will have a penumbral magnitud of 0.775 (this is the fraction of the Moon obscured by the entrance to The Earth's penumbra) and an umbral magnitud of -0.312 (fraction of the Moon obscured by the umbra of The Earth).

Perhaps the most important planetary aspect is due to Mercury in Aries as it is tightly conjunct the Sun. And the Sun-Mercury conjunction in Aries is opposite to the Moon in Libra, all of those making good aspects with Mars(the planet ruling Aries where the Sun is at the moment) in Sagittarius.

Venus, the ruler of the full Moon is in Pisces, is conjunct Neptune, opposite Jupiter retrograde in Virgo and square Saturn in Sagittarius. The South Node is still conjunct Chiron in Pisces.

Every time the Moon in Libra faces the opposition of the Sun in Aries, the issues we all have to confront are linked to the consequences of our endeavors to create and maintain peace and harmony in our relationships, mainly in partnerships (like marriage, business collaborations, and alliances).

This time, considering the Moon in Libra, but also Venus and her tense connections with Jupiter retrograde, with Saturn and the conjunction with Neptune, we get the picture of what kind of issues are to be confronted with the direct, fast, honest and bold Sun-Mercury conjunction in Aries. Making compromises and sacrifices for the sake of peace and harmony seems the most probable issue to face consequences, especially if these were a usual behaviors for a long time.

Such relational patterns –meant to keep a couple together and to provide a peaceful cohabitation or collaboration (depending on the kind of partnership) – could hide something else. Not that compromises and sacrifices wouldn’t be damaging enough on a long term. It’s just that now, around March 23, the Sun-Mercury conjunction in Aries opposite the Moon in Libra seems to show off the naked truth. And it’s going to hurt like a knife cut. It can reveal some hidden reasons “justifying” the dependency to a partner or a partnership and everything else that those include (like social life, financial situation, mentality etc).
This full Moon in Libra, accompanied by a penumbral lunar eclipse, is to create circumstances that will put many of us face to face with the consequences of our passivity and long term self-indulgence. Those circumstances can be influenced by the unexpected and they will sound and look very brutal as Mercury along with the Sun in Aries (when they are in a such tight conjunction as they are the time of the full Moon in Libra) say or show things so directly and honestly that this could appear really brutal.

The short story of this full Moon on the Libra-Aries axis, accompanied by a penumbral lunar eclipse, sounds like this: marriages or other partnerships or alliances will face challenges to their harmony, all the greater so as they gathered too many compromises and sacrifices in an attempt to expose hidden individual weaknesses. Relational issues that have been avoided for a long time, even this attitude was justified as peaceful intentions, will spring to the light with the help of the sudden circumstances and direct talks. At international levels, some peace negotiation could face sudden developments ruining all the (fake) efforts previously made.

The Worm Moon - As the temperature begins to warm and the ground begins to thaw, snow slowly begins to melt, the ground softens, and earthworms show their heads again and their castings or fecal matter can be found. Other signs of spring gave rise to other variations: the return of the robins, the cawing of crows (the Crow Moon); the formation of crusts on the snow from repeated thawing and freezing (the Crust Moon); and the time for tapping maple trees (the Sap Moon). Christian settlers also called this the Lenten Moon and considered it the last full moon of winter.
