"I love you but I am not IN love with you"
Part 1
It seems fair to assume that most if not all of humans have either been on the receiving end or perhaps been the one delivering this "explanation" or know someone who has.
For those who may not be all that familiar with this adage, it may appear quite innocuous and even a bit conflicting. Many may ask either during such an interaction, reading the words or having been the support to a friend or family member. This sentence actually carries immense power and a myriad of actual meanings or definitions. So in this mini-series we explore the energy, influences and the spiritual affect and potential changes these words have.
These not only generally affect our life, but often deeply affect our identity, self-worth and image and that in turn affects all aspects of our current and even future life.
This statement is used in romantic relationships and regardless of the length of time together, the seriousness of the current commitment it can literally leave our life in tatters and shambles.
First we (as always) define what love versus in love means or how it becomes defined in this specific context. What my guides share is that for someone to say, "I love you, but I am not IN love with you" equates to the following. The "I love you” or word love in this particular statement is the assurance and/or validation that there are feelings which become detailed by the word love. Although it would be impossible to know what every single human is referring to precisely, or the exact formula or depth and quota of that love may be unknown even to the persons stating, I love you. There are some general or universal positions, energies and synchronicities which can and will be applied to the word love in the romantic sense of this blog.
Love becomes defined or its meaning is applied as a deep, pervasive, consistent bond that is spiritually and emotionally on a higher level than that of friends, family or other humans which may also be "loved". There are generally feelings of protection towards the individual, interest in their happiness and a willingness to make sacrifices or take risks if necessary to help that person attain a goal or even a state of being. There has always been an investment of resources of self, from support to time, energy and whatever personal assistance may have been required. And in some situations those same attributes or feelings of compassion and caring often still exist. Whether love, in love or both, sexual preference is irrelevant and of no consequence or without a variation of influence, energy or outcome. Also the terms of such relationship; whether a high school romance, online or long distance relationship, dating, cohabitating for any length of time and even those married for 20 years or more. Again time in of itself has no true influence on the depth, stability, health, connection, bond or potential as life partners when it comes to love. Love never has and never will be ruled, measured or altered or shifted in terms of the risks or the dynamics. Love denotes a dedication that is beyond reproach and is one that connects two hearts and two spirits/souls so they become joined or attached, and two becomes one. Personal goals or shifted, and each support one another in following their dreams or desires, so that if possible, whatever their personal best may be it can be reached. Love is steady, it calms the heart, and it eases the soul. It is a best friend, one we share good news with and one we turn to when the world seems bleak or dismal. Love offers kindness, but honestly, it gives without expectation and never loses hope or faith. Love is eternal, it is the sun, even when clouds may temporarily fade its view, it remains and when the sky clears, it can once again be seen it its entire splendor. Love is the inspiration for life.
Next we look at what exactly personifies or how the definition and meaning of love differs when we use the term; "in love". Although we do need to consider that both of these words or terms, love and in love are often used without their original or intended meaning, therefore the use of such words have become in our society more of a general or "catch all" statement to indicate an emotional connection. However setting that aside for the moment, and looking at the "in love" from a strong spiritual meaning. From one who intends this or references this word as an intense emotion or a way of expressing that emotion. We can then attempt its most universal concept of a meaning.
So before we look at any comparisons or what the titled statement may mean or allude to, first we define the term "in love" as a standalone sentiment, once again seeking the more generalized or universal meaning, influence and energy.
When another person shares, admits or intentionally and with meaning, ignoring those that use this as simply a modern slang or unattached meaning. Telling another human sharing the expression, they are "in love" becomes a profound, intense and exclusive admittance of articulating an emotional, spiritual and even cognitive experience. To be "in love" is to be in a state of animation that is directly a result of the time spent and interactions with another human. It is a mixture or blend of a great many intense emotions which many often claim can be felt on a physical level. When we share that we are "in love" we are expressing a multitude of energy and emotions, the constant thoughts that evolve around that person; reliving past moments, and envisioning future ones. Wondering what they are doing, thinking and usually it indicates being in touch on a very consistent basis, sharing all of our deepest thoughts, ideas, wants, desires and the journey or path we hope waits ahead. We feel an immense attraction that is more than chemical or physical be includes a strong spiritual and emotional connection. Rather than being able to point out one specific trait, there are likely to be many traits, but the more intense emotion or connection is the total unity of spirit or soul. In the physical sense we may feel our heart race, our body may quiver or tremble at the sound of their voice or the touch of their hand. There is (scientifically proven) an actual change in brain chemistry when humans are within reach of those they feel "in love" with. It becomes challenging to explain as it is such an intense, profound and unique experience. And being in love also has no relevance to the time we have known another, whether we just met, have been married 10 years. We may be on our second date or we may be celebrating our 5th year of living together. Being "in love" is an amazing experience that can happen once in a lifetime or ten. Being in love is the inspiration for all possibilities, all potential.
