"Guides and Angels among us"
Part 1

Clients often ask me; "Do I have a guide"? Or sometimes I am asked to help a client develop a relationship with their guide(s) or what process is needed to be in touch with our guides. Of course personal beliefs vary and with all things "Spiritual" not everyone may share the same ideas or interpretations of Guides and Angels.
Before we can begin to understand how to tap into the energy or resource of a Guide or an Angel, we need a basic understanding on the purpose and perhaps the difference between the two.

Guides;

Each human has within their reach Spiritual Guides, most often more than one Guide, and even when we are not aware or consciously seeking advice or guidance, our Guide(s) are there helping us. I feel we can use the word "Intuition" interchangeably" with Guides. That little voice or that feeling that tells us, don't take that job, or perhaps a new person in our life and we experience a strong gut reaction that this person is not a good influence, or a warning feeling. This in many cases is one of our Guides trying to connect and actively seeking to guide us. Guides are Spiritual energies, that were once probably human, who have lived enough lives’ or learned lessons and have been "promoted" if you will to the position of being a Guide. They are highly evolved energies that have been given permission to assist us, or perhaps even more than one person, with the goal of helping us, without interfering in our free will or lessons. The majority of us that are not in the Spiritual profession have guides; we just have not ever perhaps pursued the concept. We have a great deal of experts that would be able and willing to assist you in contacting your guide, or developing a closer relationship.

Guides and names;

There is much diversity among Spiritual professionals about the need for a human name for our Guide(s). Some believe that this is a human only need, and our Guide(s) do not really have a human identity in the sense of a "name". Because they are here to help us, as humans, and because as humans we personalize relationships, I do feel that Guide's can be named, or we can find the name of our Guide(s).  One way to discover your most active or closest Guide is to use meditation. Pick a quiet room, and a time of day where you won't be interrupted. Take the phone off the hook, and perhaps even light a white candle. Begin with slow breaths, inhaling and exhaling slowly as you begin to visualize yourself in a peaceful place. There is no need to speak aloud, as our Guide(s) can and do read our energy, intentions and thoughts, so simply send out a message that you wish or desire to interact more closely with your Guide(s) and that you would like to ask for a name, so that you can personalize further encounters. Have a pen and paper handy and let your imagination and your mind release all obstacles and open yourself to whatever is shown or perhaps even heard. Write down the results, and very often you will not only be given a name, but also a human form or the image of your Guide(s). Be trusting and do away with any lingering doubts. The average client or human usually has the most trouble with the initial contact. Many clients report to me that they were given a name, and even a visual of a human form, such as an American Indian, a Princess, a Tibetan Master, but their doubts interfere and they question whether or not this is real, or something they simply made up, just their imagination at work. Other clients report that after a few meditation experiences (it often takes more than once to tap into your Guide's energy) they begin to see a name, a Television commercial, a sales call, all with the same name. Trust in what you receive to be authentic and that this is your Guide giving you access to a name. Sometimes the names are quite common, Sarah, Susan, Bob, George, while other times they seem distinct, such as Rasheem or other distinct. Even ethnic names. Once you have found a name, get comfortable using it. In times of distress, or decision making, again find a quiet meditative spot and call by name your Guide(s) and ask for assistance or guidance. Most humans will receive some type of validation or symbol, sign as to what path/choice/decision will be for your highest good and path. It's also possible that you simply get a very strong intuitive pull in one direction or the other, trust in the fact this IS your Guide(s) working to help you.

Although our Guides cannot alter our free will, nor can they make every life decision for us, they certainly can and will help to guide us, and to then give us a sense of peace once such decision or choice has been made. Although Guide's are highly evolved energies or Spiritual beings, they work with us on the physical plane/earth and are happy to provide us with an "image" as most humans are quite visual and do better when they have a picture of such to relate to.

Angels among us;

Although expert beliefs vary a great deal, Angels generally appear during times of great stress, grief or during illness, accidents etc. It is the belief of the author that Angels are more ethereal beings that are very brief in their encounters with human or earthly beings. We have all heard a story of the person pulled from the burning car, or the feeling of incomparable love and acceptance during times of extreme stress and challenge. Angels are often granted special "permission" to intervene on our behalf, and often can and do "save" us from death, disease or even suicide.  I have on occasion during a reading with a client noted an Angel or the energy of such around such client. This usually appears at the right or left shoulder area, and tells me that this client is under "protection" and/or being cared for in a special way.  It has been my personal experience that other than the Saints or Archangels, most Angels do not have names, nor do they appear in a unique human form, they are often seen as arcs of light, or the iconic white figure with wings, or even just a vague outline of some type of being that is obviously supernatural.

My personal core belief system is that God is the creator of all, King of kings and he carries the ultimate authority along with his son, to "send an Angel" to a human and in these instances, Angels can and often do override or interfere with free will or are given special permission to grant miracles.

An analogy I often use with clients when explaining the difference between Guides and Angels; Guides are similar to the standard military regime that remains constant in each country or around the world on military bases, borders, etc. Angels are the "special task force"; these like the military are called in when the "regulars" are not equipped or not capable of the special tasks needed for safety and/or special or temporary extra protection or permission to interfere with our life, path or purpose.

Next; looking closer at how angels or those of the angel realm differ from guides and the purpose each has the potential to serve.
